What to Expect During a Wildlife Population & Aerial Survey
1. Pre-Survey Planning
Before the flight, property boundaries and survey objectives are reviewed to determine the appropriate flight area, timing, and survey approach. This planning ensures efficient coverage while minimizing disturbance to wildlife and land operations.
2. Low-Light or Nighttime Aerial Operations
Wildlife surveys are typically conducted during low-light conditions, early morning, evening, or nighttime hours when animal activity is more visible using thermal imaging technology.
3. Autonomous Thermal Survey Flight
A pre-planned, mapping-style flight route is used to systematically survey the property. The aircraft follows this route autonomously while continuous thermal video is recorded to document wildlife presence and activity.
4. Live Observation During Flight
While the survey is underway, the thermal feed is monitored in real time to observe animal presence, grouping behavior, movement patterns, and areas of repeated activity across the property.
