My35 Waco South Project- Aerial Construction Update
Project Overview:
Construction on the south portion of Interstate 35 in Waco began in February 2025 and is expected to continue through early 2029. This $234 million infrastructure project covers the three-mile stretch between 12th Street and Highway 6 and represents the final phase of the I-35 reconstruction through Waco.
The project includes a full rebuild and expansion of the corridor—adding capacity, improving safety, and modernizing traffic flow throughout the area.
Once completed, the project will include:
Eight wider main lanes (four in each direction)
Continuous frontage roads with redesigned ramps
Improved pedestrian and bicycle safety with new sidewalks
Rebuilt crossings with U-turn lanes
Utility and drainage upgrades
This follows the successful completion of the I-35 Waco North section between North Loop 340 and 12th Street, finished in November 2022.
Latest Aerial Update:
Captured today, this aerial overview highlights ongoing construction activity and visible progress along the corridor as work continues to move forward.
J&E Tex Drones LLC will continue providing consistent aerial updates throughout the project—delivering a reliable visual record from start to completion.
During this time, drivers are encouraged to travel cautiously through work zones and follow posted traffic signage. These long-term improvements will benefit the Waco community and regional traffic flow for years to come.
